The
Palmer Press A Monthly Publication of Jim Palmer
Trucking June/July 2010 |
Jim Palmer Trucking has been going through a period of change and transition. Though some view change with skepticism, others view change with confidence and with the realization that good things come with change. As Spencer Johnson, M.D. wrote, "things change and they are never the same again. This looks like one of those times. That is life! Life moves on. And so should we." (Who Moved My Cheese, 1998, p.45). Jim Palmer Trucking is excited about change and confident these changes are for the best. Our strength as a Company has always been the loyalty, productivity and professionalism of its employees and nothing can change that. Everyone at JPT is enthusiastically embracing change and effectively working together to meet the needs of the market and our customers. As Spencer Johnson wrote, you are all invited to lift “a piece of fresh Cheese” and make a toast “Hooray for Change!” (Who Moved My Cheese, 1998, p.70). Thank you to everyone at JPT and we look forward to sharing a bright, prosperous future! |

Maintenance Corner By Bill Fortney, Manager Roadside Breakdown bfortney@jptinc.net |
First of all, I would like to welcome Chris Grimshaw and Tom Ferlic to the Roadside Breakdown Department. Chris will be working Monday thru Friday and Tom will be covering Friday thru Tuesday.
Please continue to keep a close eye on trailers in need of repair when dropping at a drop yard. We are still seeing a lot of trailers being dropped with bad tires, lights that are inoperable and reefers that do not function properly. Remember, you may be in a hurry to leave but so is the next person, so please do not leave them with the burden of repairing your trailer.
During the hot summer months, we need to keep a good eye on our tire pressures. A tire that is over inflated in hot weather is a perfect candidate for a blow out. Please check your tire pressures daily and adjust pressures as needed. Dual tires should be run at 100 PSI and Super Singles need to run at 110. Trailers with the auto inflation system may do well inflating tires but they do not regulate tire pressures. It is not uncommon for one set of duals to be running at 105 and the set of duals in front of it to be at 110. To check tire pressures on trailers with auto air inflation all you need to do is use a pair of pliers and unscrew the line that runs from the tire to the hub at the hub side of the line, there you will find a Schrader valve. Simply check the tire pressure with you tire gauge and adjust the pressure as necessary then reattach the line.
Remember: At this time, Emergency Roadside coverage is only between the hours of midnight and 0500 Monday thru Thursday. |
IMPORTANT REMINDER TO ALL DRIVERS When delivering a load into a Walmart facility, it is critically important to obtain a complete, signed copy of the BOLs. Walmart will not provide us with copies of the BOLs after a driver has left the facility. In order for JPT to receive payment on a load, we must have the BOLs”. |
THANK YOU FOR DRIVING SAFELY! |
